Mr. Joe Murray Walker, age 80 of Carrollton, Ga., passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2014. Mr. Walker was born in Zebulon, Ga., on Sept. 27, 1933, the son of the late Henry Alvin Walker and Minnie Tyus Walker. He retired as director of research and development of sports wear at Jockey International and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Walker; sister, Ruth Washington of Barnesville, Ga., and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Sutton and Dr. John T. Lewis officiating. Pallbearers will be Tye Walker, Chris Walker, John Stallings, Mark Sparks, Chancey Lambert, David Mason and Greg Mason. Interment will be in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery, highways 18 and 109, Barnesville, Ga., 30204 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Franklin Gibson officiating.
