John Allen Hilmer

Mr. John Allen Hilmer, age 82 of Barnesville, Ga., passed away on July 22, 2013 at his residence.Mr. Hilmer was born on Oct. 25, 1930 to the late Oscar Hilmer and Ida M. Hilmer. Mr. Hilmer is proceeded in death by a son, John Henry Hilmer; and stepson, Matthew Trent. He was retired from the United States Coast Guard.Survivors include his wife, Shelba S. Hilmer; sons and daughter-in-law, Rick and Maria Hilmer and Chris and Christine Hilmer; stepchildren, Laura and Tommy Sorrow, Jon and Tammy Trent and Mark Trent; and 14 grandchildren.Mr. Hilmer’s wishes were to be cremated and no formal service to be held.Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, 1891 West McIntosh Road, Griffin was in charge of arrangements, conner-westburyfuneralhome.com.
