John Flath named LC football coach

John Flath was introduced Thursday evening as the new head coach of the Lamar County Trojan football team. Flath, a three-year letterman at FSU as an offensive tackle, comes to LC from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla. where he served as offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. Flath has 20 years of high school coaching experience in Central Florida. He was offensive line coach for seven years under legendary coach Bill Castle at perennial powerhouse Lakeland High School. He coached Max Starks, Maurice Pouncey and Mike Pouncey, all of whom played at the University of Florida and are now in the NFL. Flath and his wife, Megan, have two sons: Caleb and Jake. Jake is a rising sophomore offensive tackle at Mercer University in Macon.
