John Harper

Mr. John Harper, age 95, of Barnesville passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 in a Thomaston healthcare facility. Mr. Harper was born Jan. 24, 1918 to the late Mr. John Tildon Harper and the late Mrs. Mamie Ophelia Martin Harper. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Edith Marie Meeks Harper He retired as an aircraft mechanic from Robins Air Force Base and was a retired corrections officer from Upson County. Survivors include his three daughters, Betty Jean Harper Blackston of Thomaston, Mary Ann Harper Brown (and William Darryl) of Thomaston and Sarah Louise Harper Mathews (and Bobby Julius) of Barnesville; one son, John T. Harper (and Waunda) of Barnesville. Nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr, John Harper will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home with Elder Kurt Bacon officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home.
