Johns to lead Chamber

Emily Johns has been hired as president/CEO of the Barnesville-Lamar County Chamber of Commerce. The chamber news release follows: The Barnesville-Lamar County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that they have hired a new President/CEO. The Board of Directors established a Selection Committee soon after Amanda Rose resigned in January. The committee has been diligently seeking a replacement and combing through mounds of applicants. On Friday, June 29th, the Selection Committee presented a candidate to the Board of Directors and they approved the hiring of Emily Johns. Johns recently finished her Bachelor of Science degree from Mercer University and has been employed with the Griffin-Spalding Development Authority for the past five years. She has experience with social media, event planning, and strong office management skills. ‘We are extremely happy with our decision and believe that Emily is just the person for the job,’ stated Board Chairman Julia Ann Ridgeway. ‘We are looking forward to great things from her.’ Johns lives in Griffin, GA with her husband, Chip, and two children Brice (12) and Hailey (9). She is a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Griffin Utility Club, and two honor societies Phi Kappa Phi and Kappa Delta Pi.
