Juanita Gibson Bush

Juanita Gibson Bush of Barnesville, GA, died Friday, June 12, 2015, at Heritage Inn Nursing Home in Barnesville, GA. Funeral services for Ms. Bush were held Monday, June 15, at 11:00 in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Burial was in South View Cemetery. The family of Ms. Bush received friends Sunday evening, June 14, from 6 until 8 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.Ms. Bush was born on September 29, 1944, in Thomaston, GA, the daughter of the late Robert Felton Gibson and Jimmie Nell Phillips Gibson. She was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church in Thomaston where she was baptized at the age of 12. After graduating from Yatesville High School in 1962, she worked as a legal secretary for Owen J. Adams, Attorney at Law, in Thomaston until she married and moved to Barnesville in 1968. There she worked for several attorneys, including the late Norman Smith. Later she worked in Atlanta for the State of Georgia and retired February 1, 2011, from the Department of Law after 22 years of service. She spent most of her time during retirement doing what she loved – making memories and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Ms. Bush is survived by her three children: Lisa Bush, Leila (Darren) Sumner, and Robert (Wendy) Bush of Barnesville; sisters: Ramona McCard (I. D.) Oxford and Sylvia (Johnny) Hammonds of Thomaston; grandchildren: Leslie Sumner, Jewell, Kaitlynn Bush, Jackson ( “J. D.”) Bush, Ashley Bush, and Ben Bush. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home of Thomaston is in charge of all arrangements.
