Judge hammers post-tornado looter

By Walter Geiger A Dekalb County man who looted the one remaining building at the Hot Shot convenience store here after the April 28, 2011 tornado has been sent to prison. Cyrus Lilton Brooks, 54, broke into the building on June 24 and stole items salvaged from the devastated store following the storm. Brooks was convicted in a jury trial last week of burglary and possession of burglary tools which included a saw and sledgehammer. Judge Tommy Wilson sentenced Brooks to 10 years in prison with an additional five years on probation.
