Judge rules against Greenco

After a grueling, four-hour hearing Thursday afternoon, Judge William Thomas found that odors emanating from Greenco Environmental constitute a nuisance and ordered the firm to correct its problems within 30 days or face additional sanctions. ”The court finds that nobody here is trying to run Greenco out of business,” Judge Thomas said He found the firm guilty of the nuisance complaint against it and fined principals Tim and Melia Lesko $1000 plus surcharges. The judge did agree to waive $500 of the fine if the odors are contained within 30 days. After the hearing, a tearful Melia Lesko said, “We are not making any money. We are not paying ourselves a salary.” ”There is not much I can do to comply within 30 days except change the recipe of the compost,” Tim Lesko added. ”We are pleased with the judge’s ruling. We want Greenco to succeed,” county attorney Scott Mayfield said after the verdict.
