Judge Thomas stricken

By Kay S. Pedrotti Though a patient at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Judge William Thomas says overall he is feeling much better than he did two weeks ago and is very optimistic that upcoming treatments for a major blood disorder will be successful. ”The good Lord sent me to this hospital, probably the best in the state if not the Southeast for the treatment I need,” said Thomas. ‘I’m under the care of Dr. Kent Holland, who may be placing me in a non-chemotherapy treatment that has a proven track record.” As of Monday, he said he felt so much better that, ‘If I were in Lamar County, I’d be at work today.” His journey began with testing by Dr. Adam Buice and a Griffin hematologist who did a bone marrow biopsy and set him immediately to Northside. ”I knew something wasn’t right when I lost my usual energy level,” he said. “I won’t downplay the seriousness of this but I’m not into ‘gloom, despair and misery on me,’ to quote from a favorite TV show of years ago. I’m grateful to all my friends in Lamar for prayers and support and to my staff at the magistrate court for stepping into the breach so capably. Tests are still being made, so I’ll know more at a later date.”
