Judith Branch McConoughey

Judith Branch McConoughey passed away March 15, 2012, in Arlington, Texas. She was 70. Judy was a former resident of Barnesville and a beloved teacher at Gordon. When her husband Bill Branch was killed in Vietnam in 1970, Barnesville surrounded Judy with love. And though life took her far away the people of Barnesville remained a constant fond memory for her. Judy was an extraordinary teacher who found great joy in the classroom, inspiring students in Barnesville, Atlanta, Augusta and Charleston, S.C. She leaves behind a host of changed children who carry on her lively lessons and her sense of wonder about the world. Judy is survived by her husband Bruce McConoughey of Arlington, Texas; and by her children, Jennifer and John Denard of Naples, Fla., Rebekah and Jeremy Woodruff of Arlington, Texas and Casey and Brandy Baldwin of Moncks Corner, S.C. She leaves behind six grandchildren and a brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Helen Dunn of Covington, Ga. A memorial service will be held Saturday March 31, at 12 p.m. at Westview Cemetery, in Atlanta, Ga. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to CurePsp.org 30 E.
