Mr. Julius Edward ‘Ed’ Howell Jr., age 76, of Meansville, passed away July 14, 2013.He was born in Fitzgerald, Ga., July 24, 1936 to the late Julius Edward Howell Sr. and Clarice Wilcox Howell. He attended Georgia Institute of Technology and Southern Poly Tech, graduating with a degree in engineering. He was senior project manager for Beers Construction Company in Atlanta, retiring as vice president after 30 years of employment. He loved to travel, play golf, garden and spend time with family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Carolyn Reynolds Howell.He is survived by his children and their spouses, Julius Edward III ‘Ed’ and Linda Howell of Fayetteville and Lynn and Greg Burrell of Gainesville; grandchildren, Elizabeth, John, Joseph, Hannah and Grace Burrell and Jennifer King; great-granddaughter, Sadie Eason; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Janice Howell of McDonough; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Jim Smith of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.Friends may visit the family on Friday, July 19, from 6-9 p.m., at Moody-Daniel Funeral Home in Zebulon. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 20, at 1 p.m., in Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Swansea, S.C.Moody-Daniel Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
