Jury gets Sumner case

The jury in the Bobbie Jo Sumner case began deliberations at 4:42 p.m. Wednesday after closing arguments from defense attorney Bubba Head and lead prosecutor James Moss and after being charged by Judge Tommy Wilson. Moss told jurors Sumner “left that young girl there to die like a dog”. Head argued Sumner did not realize she was at fault until told by police fibers from victim Alexandra Noelle Desir’s clothing were found on her Saturn Vue. ”She could not wrap her brain around it. She was hoping against hope it was going to be someone else,” Head said. The jurors sent a note to the judge about 5 p.m. saying they were going to stay and attempt to get verdicts tonight. The Herald Gazette will have those verdicts when they are reached.
