Jury still deliberating murder case

After a lunch break Tuesday, Judge Tommy Wilson used the Allen charge to encourage the deadlocked jury to make a renewed effort to reach a verdict. Lakievius Eleby is charged with two counts of felony murder, armed robbery, burglary, two counts of aggravated assault, three counts of false imprisonment, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony in connection with the Dec. 5, 2010 home invasion killing of Gordon student Danavan Bussey. The jury has reportedly agreed on one count but is deadlocked in an 11-1 vote on all other counts. Judge Wilson told jurors to continue their deliberations this afternoon. They will be given an hour break at 5 p.m. to go vote in the Presidential Preference Primary Election but will return and continue deliberations until 10 p.m., if necessary. If jurors haven’t reached a verdict by then, they will be required to return tomorrow, instructed Judge Wilson.
