Justen Shanard Sullivan died May 16, 2014.Mr. Sullivan was born May 16, 1989 in Thomaston to Danita Taylor and the late Matthew Sullivan. He was one of four children. While still a youth Justen moved to Barnesville with his family and attended Lamar County Middle School. He completed his education at Griffin High School, graduating with the class of 2007. He was previously employed as a correctional officer at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification State Prison in Jackson. He joined Miracle Faith Deliverance Center in Griffin and enjoyed serving as caretaker for children. He was a big brother figure for underprivileged boys in the community. Just minutes into celebrating his birthday, Justen transitioned to his eternal home with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Lakeitha Wellmaker; his uncles, David Sullivan and Kevin Sullivan, and his grandfather Alonzo Taylor.Survivors include his mother, Danita Taylor of Griffin; two sisters, Jonecia (Jamarrell) Bryant of Covington and Keisha Sierra Sullivan of Barnesville; two brothers, Jeremiah (Tracey) Sullivan of Milner and Dontavious Crawford of Thomaston; grandparents, Maxine (Lonnie) Searcy of Griffin and Christine and Sherman Sullivan of Thomaston; aunts and uncles, Deborah (Willie) Meadows and Sheila (George) Corbin of Griffin, Roderick (Bernita) Johnson and Michael (Tammy) Hicks of Thomaston, April (J.C.) Holmes of Macon and Horace Hughley of Columbus; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.Services were held Thursday, May 22, at 2 p.m. at East Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Rev. Jimmy Lyons officiated and Dr. Shelly Boone II eulogized. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery in Yatesville.Bentley and Sons Funeral Home of Barnesville had charge of arrangements.
