As a young girl raised in a small town by my grandparents, hard work was always a priority. My grandfather owned the local Mom and Pop grocery store, well before there was an Ingles or Kroger, while also managing the family farm.
We grew cotton, pimento peppers, and corn. Our family also served our community helping those who were in need. The values of hard work and service that he taught still lives in me today. Those who know me know that service is in my DNA.
I’ve lived in Barnesville-Lamar County for almost 40 years. I’m married to Brian Hughes. We have four children, five grandchildren, and one more on the way! Not only is my family important to me but also my faith.
We attend Barnesville First Baptist Church where I have served in various positions in the church. Presently I am a 2nd grade Sunday School Teacher and a Board member of Faith Friends Academy.
I’ve been the Manager of the Barnesville-Lamar County Library for 26 years, loving and serving the people of this community. My experience includes managing staff, daily operations, budgeting, and administrative duties. These will help me serve the community well as I seek your vote as Mayor.
It’s been “A Wonderful Life” living in Barnesville-Lamar County. I could not imagine being a part of a better community.
As Mayor, communication between our leaders and the people we serve will be the key to our success. I will serve with honesty, integrity and passion to make Barnesville, “Our town. Our future.”
