Lady Trojans, 5-5, to host region pair

By Ken K. Green After four straight road games, the Lady Trojan softball team is ready for some home cooking. They will get some this week, hosting a pair of region games as they play Greene County today and Morgan County Thursday. Both contests are scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. at the Trojan Athletic Complex on the campus of the middle school. Lamar is 5-5 for the season but 2-1 in 4-AA after splitting a pair of games last week. In Zebulon, the Lady Trojans ran into a buzz saw. They managed only four base hits in a 5-0 loss to defending region champion Pike County. Tamara Watts, Lane Hammond, Jesse McDaniel and August Groover hit singles. The Lamar County junior varsity is 2-0 on the season after beating Spalding 21-3 and Jackson 13-11. The JV Lady Trojans play at Jackson Wednesday.
