Lady Trojans dominate region again

The LC Lady Trojans took possession of their fourth consecutive region championship trophy Friday following a 10-0 win over the Temple Wildcats at Trojan Field. The game was ended via GHSA’s mercy rule when LC (10-3, 7-0) scored its 10th goal. Rachel Patterson paced LC with three goals while Hailey Hadsell added two. Scoring single goals were Becky Taylor, Jaiyla Harp, Caylin Cornelius, Erin Little and Tomiyah Alford. Skyler Bedgood had two assists while Hadsell and Victoria Boland had one each. Lamar will enter the GHSA soccer playoffs April 25 as a #1 seed and host the #4 seed from Region 7AA. The Lady Trojans, ranked #4 in the Eurosports Class AA Top 10, are off this week for Spring break. They return to the pitch April 10 when Rutland comes to Trojan Field for a nonregion match that kicks off at 7:30 p.m. LC travels to Peach County for another non-region match April 11 at 5:30 p.m. JV: The Lady Trojans junior varsity finished second in the JV Trojan Cup last week. They beat Monticello 10-0 Monday, lost to Callaway 3-1 Wednesday, lost to Harris County 10-0 Saturday morning but bounced back with a 4-0 win over Manchester Saturday afternoon. Lady Trojan coach Wayne Calvert reported Friday night’s alumni event went very well. ‘It was great to see a lot of the former players here. We’re hoping this will grow into a larger annual event for the program,’ he said.
