Lady Trojans eliminated

The Lamar County Lady Trojans travel to Rome to take on Armuchee in the first round of the state basketball tournament Friday. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m Lamar, coached by Brian Hampton, is 11-14. Armuchee, coached by Michelle Arp, is 12-14. UPDATE: Armuchee eliminated LC 66-38. The winner will play the victor in the Dublin-Fitzgerald game next week. Lamar qualified for state by winning their first round region tournament game Feb. 7 as they beat Jordan 59-50. Tomiyah Alford and Tyschanda Castlin had 22 points each for LC while Victoria Boland added six points. Lamar fell in round two 50-35 to Heard County. Alford had 20 points in that contest. The Lady Trojans improved their seeding in the third place game with a narrow 56-54 win over Temple. Alford had 23 points in that contest while Castlin added 20. Makalyn McGuire got seven points for LC. The Trojans were eliminated in the first round of the tournament as they lost to Callaway 74-30.
