Lady Trojans go 2-3 for the week

The Lamar Lady Trojans (3-4) won two of five games as the 2017 softball season got underway in earnest last week. LC opened play Tuesday with a 4-3 win over Upson-Lee in a rain-shortened game at Aldora Field. Brinkley Yevak went all four innings for the win, striking out three. Ryla Traylor had two hits to lead LC while Alyssa Maisonet had two RBIs. On Wednesday, the Lady Trojans battled Whitewater and dropped a 5-4 decision. Yevak got the loss. Britney English and Taylor Turner had hits for LC. English, Traylor and Aishja Wilcher each had RBIs. On Friday, Lamar topped Tattnall Square 9-8 in a slugfest. Yevak went the distance for the win, striking out two. Maisonet and Yevak had two hits each. Kelyse Harris had two RBIs while English added one. In game two Friday, Lamar lost to TSA 8-3. Yevak gave up five first inning runs and got the loss. Bailee Pines had two RBIs for LC. On Saturday, LC lost 5-4 to the Alexander Cougars of Douglasville. Maisonet had three hits for LC while Turner and Pines had one each. Pines added two RBIs while Turner and Yevak had one apiece. Lamar plays at Callaway Aug. 29.
