Green The Lamar County Lady Trojan softball team opens play this week, traveling to Forsyth Thursday for a pre-season scrimmage with Mary Persons at 5 p.m. and taking part in the annual Diamond Classic Invitational Tournament this weekend at Volunteer Park in Griffin. The Lady Trojans will play Georgia Military Friday at 4:30 p.m. and Thomson Friday at 7:30 p.m. Lamar’s Saturday opponents will be determined by the outcome of Friday’s games. Returning eight of nine starters from last year’s team that finished 12-14, the Lady Trojans are led by seniors Jesse McDaniel, Tyler Burnette (pictured) and Tori Long. Lamar will play its home opener Monday hosting Howard for a doubleheader beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Trojan Athletic Complex on the campus of Lamar County Middle School.
