Lady Trojans open playoff action today

The Lamar Lady Trojans split two games in region tournament last weekend and host Pepperell today in the first round of the GHSA Class AA state playoffs. In game one of region play, Lexy Head twirled a no-hitter as Lamar blasted Callaway 12-0 in four innings. She also helped herself at the plate with a two-run double. Alyssa Maisonet had a two-run homer and finished with three hits and four RBIs. Ja’Kyra Shannon added a solo homer to the LC onslaught. Kayla Hinkley ended for Lamar in the fourth when she drove in two runs with a sharp single. In game two, Lamar fell 4-3 to old nemesis Heard County. Head took the mound again and went 6.1 innings, striking out seven and allowing four runs. Heard got a single run in the bottom of the seventh to ice it. Aishja Wilcher led Lamar with three hits while Cayla Bishop drove in two of LC’s three runs. The Lady Trojans (1610-1) host the Pepperell Lady Dragons (20-10) today in a playoff doubleheader. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. at Aldora Field. The if game will be played Thursday. Tickets for today’s doubleheader are $10. If game tickets will be $7.
