The Lady Trojan softball team opens Region 4AA tournament play Tuesday hosting Crawford County in a best-of-three series. Game one will be at 4:30 p.m. at the Trojan Athletic Complex followed by game two. Game three, if necessary, will be played Wednesday afternoon, also at home. Lamar County beat Crawford twice earlier in the year in the Lady Eagle Invitational in Roberta but fell to the Lady Eagles here two weeks ago. The Lady Trojans are the third seed in the tournament going 5-3 in region play (13-11 overall) while Crawford finished as the sixth seed going 4-4 in 4AA (12-14 overall). The winner of the series qualifies for the Class AA state tournament and will go on to face number two seed Morgan County in Madison in the second round of the region tournament with games one and two played Saturday and the “if” game scheduled for Monday. Admission to Tuesday’s game is five dollars. GHSA and media passes only will be honored at the gate. The Lady Trojan Dugout Club will have Chic-Fil-A sandwiches for sale in the concession stand.
