By Walter GeigerThe two LC varsity basketball teams were polar opposites last week as the Lady Trojans won three straight but the Trojans went winless.On Tuesday, the Lamar ladies topped Macon County 44-39. As she has all season, Daishai Almond led Lamar with 26 points while grabbing nine rebounds.Nykia Thomas added eight points and three caroms for LC. Other scorers were NyAsia Shivers (5), Tyschanda Castlin (3) and Tristian Smith (2). Thomas was named player of the game.On Friday, LC went to Crawford County and pounded the Lady Eagles 82-15.Almond went off on the home team, notching 26 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists, four steals and one block.Castlin knocked down 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Shivers had 13 points and six rebounds.Other LC scorers were Thomas (5), Raven Sullivan (4), Smith (2), Alexis Web (3), Timecia Holmes (2) and Tomiya Alford (7). Alford, who added 9 steals and five rebounds, was player of the game.Saturday night found the locals in Forsyth where they topped the MP Lady Dogs 49-30.Alford had 26 points, four rebounds, four assists, five steals and one block as she was named player of the game.Shivers had nine points and seven rebounds to go with three steals. Web had six points and six caroms while Castlin had four points, four rebounds and two blocks.The Trojans fared less well.On Tuesday, they fell to Macon County 67-61. Brice Paster led LC with 25 points and five assists. Obtavius Hampton had 14 points and six rebounds while Dallas Ogletree knocked down 10 points and grabbed six rebounds.Friday night found LC on the wrong end of a 77-63 decision at Crawford County.Hampton had 26 points and eight rebounds to pace LC. Paster added 15 points, five assists and five rebounds. Andruw O’neal added six points.LcC fell to MP 56-44 Saturday. Paster had six three-pointers to finish with 22 points. He added four assists and worked the glass for four rebounds. Hampton was held to seven points and five rebounds.LC hosts Jackson tonight and NE Macon Friday before traveling to Monticello Saturday.
