Lady Trojans win, advance to Sweet 16; Trojans eliminated

The GHSA Class A Div. 1 state basketball playoffs got underway Tuesday night.

LC’s Lauren Wilcher (15) drives for a layup in a round one win over Savannah High.

The LC Lady Trojans rolled to a 56-40 win over the Savannah High Blue Jackets at the LC gym. They will battle East Laurens in round two here. That game will be played Friday at 6 p.m. at the LC gym.

Lamar’s Journi Harris (45) battles for a rebound in Tuesday’s win.

East Laurens, the #3 seed from Region 2, defeated Irwin County 64-47 in round one.

Tuesday night’s game was rough and tumble at times with many players hitting the floor.

The Trojans, a #4 seed, traveled to Savannah where they were eliminated by Woodville-Tompkins 60-33.
