Lady Trojans win region title; will host state playoff game vs. Savannah High here Tuesday

The Lamar County Lady Trojans defeated Heard County 59-38 in the title game of Region 4A Div. I basketball tournament Tuesday night at Temple. The locals finished 22-4 overall and 8-0 in region play.

Along with the title, they earned a #1 seed in the state tournament and will host Savannah High School in the first round of the GHSA state playoffs here Tuesday. The Blue Jackets are 12-14 and the #4 team from Region 3A Div. I. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at the LC gym.

The Trojans lost to Crawford County in the regional third place game. They are the region’s #4 seed and will be on the road Tuesday in Savannah at Woodville-Tompkins in the first round. The Wolverines are 18-9 and the #1 seed from Region 3A Div. I. Tipoff is tentatively set for 6:30 p.m.
