Lady Trojans win two; place fourth in tourney

The Lamar Lady Trojans (3-2) won two games last week and finished fourth in the Trojan Cup tournament, the final round of which was played here over the weekend. On Feb. 13, LC went to Macon to battle Tattnall Square and came away with a 11-2 win. Hailey Hadsell and Madison Fortner had four goals each for LC while Skylar Bedgood, Jaiyla Harpe and Margaret Henry had one apiece. On Saturday, the Lady Trojans topped Northside Warner Robins in the fourth place game of the Trojan Cup 8-1. Hadsell recorded a hat trick with three goals while Fortner added two. Becky Taylor and Caylin Cornelius had one apiece. ’Since the East Laurens loss, our offense has found its rhythm. We’ve scored 23 goals in our last three games. This is important since region play is about to begin,’ coach Wayne Calvert said. LC has a 32-game region winning streak and a 16-game region shutout streak going. The JV Lady Trojans tied Dutchtown 1-1 Feb. 15. Alaina Cato scored for LC on a penalty kick. The LCMS girls tied Jones County 4-4 Feb. 12 and fell 4-1 to Henderson Feb. 15. The varsity is off until Feb. 28 when they play at Spencer. Callaway comes to town on Friday, March 2 for a 5:30 p.m. match.
