By Ken K. Green After finishing third in the District 3 Dixie Youth Minors tournament in Roberta, the Lamar County 9/10 year old all star baseball team is headed to the state tournament. The local boys found themselves in an early hole in the 13-team district tournament as they were outlasted by Jones County 7-6 in eight innings of play. They then went on a tear, winning four straight games beating Newton County National 14-10, Newton County South 13-3, Bowdon 13-9 and Perry 10-3 to reach the semi-finals. In the semi-final game, Lamar fell to Monroe County 14-6.
