Lamar Arts is celebrating Black History Month by hosting a very special event called ‘Roots’. We encourage you to attend the opening this Friday, February 5th, from 6-8 pm at the Depot in Downtown Barnesville. Also featured in the exhibition is a featuring the Rosenwald Schools. The Rosenwald Schools were elementary schools built by Julius Rosenwald to educate black children throughout the south. Margaret Thompson has been doing extensive research on all of the Resenwald schools but more specifically our very own Sugar Hill School located here in Lamar County. She is also working extremely hard to get renovated. All the public is welcomed to this opening so please be sure to put it on your calendars.
