Lamar Arts’ annual Derby Day Gala is set for Saturday, May 5, 4-7 p.m. at the home of Linda Littiken, 113 Big Oak Drive in Barnesville. The event will feature gourmet food by Chef William Littiken, Karen Cox and Annette Jones; beverage bar and mint julep station; lawn games such as hobbyhorse racing and a cake walk; a contest for ‘best hat’ for both women and men, and the finale, watching the Kentucky Derby on large-screen television sets. There will be parking signs to assist those attending. Tickets are $25 in advance and are available at the Depot, on Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday starting at 10 a.m.; the Chamber of Commerce, Goggans Florist and Deraney’s Pizzeria and Such.
