Lamar Arts has Georgia on its mind

As Barnesville Buggy Days has secured its mark in the Georgia festival circuit, so has the annual Lamar Arts Member’s Exhibit. Honoring member artists and Georgia, the exhibit entitled “Georgia On My Mind” will open Sept. 11 with an artist’s reception honoring the state and community from 6-8 p.m. Sample ‘Bites of Barnesville’ are being donated by local culinary artists such as Anthony Butler of Butler Catering, Jenny Hobbs of Rumble Seat Inn and Marilyn Turner of Turner Catering. Showcasing the work of local artists such as Mike Merritt, Ed Rainey, Jim and Sally Weber, Scott Turner, the Barnesville Woodturners and others, the show will celebrate Georgia and Lamar County artists alike. Beyond the gallery show is the Artisan Village ‘“ a demonstration by local artists of their talents ‘“ on the streets of Barnesville as part of Buggy Days activities. Local artwork will be on sale outside and inside at the permanent LA’Mart. To take part contact Sally Weber at 770.286.2784. Gallery hours are Fridays 11 a.m. to 2 pm. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
