The Lamar County Health Department has received its first shipment of H1N1 “swine” flu vaccines in mist form. The immunizations are designated for healthy children between the ages of 2-4 and their caregivers. ”It’s a limited amount,” said nurse Sherry Farr. “We’ll be getting more and will make announcements as it comes in.” Later shipments will be designated to other sectors of the population. Farr urges parents of pre-schoolers to call the health department at 770-358-1483 to ensure there is still vaccine available before coming in. The hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 1-4:30 p.m.
