The Lamar school board voted to notify the state of its intent to begin a charter school program focusing on vocational studies. The aim would be to prepare a work force for area industries. Member Ryan Christopher opposed the project. “We don’t have to commit but, if we miss it, it’ll be another year before we can apply,” said superintendent Dr. Bill Truby. “The money is sizable.”
