Lamar’s Cross Country team wins awards

For the first time in its four year history, the high school cross country team won a regular season award as the boys finished third to earn a trophy at the Spalding Invitational in Griffin behind the host school and LaGrange. Senior David Henry (20:01)  led the way for Lamar, finishing 19th overall to earn a spot as a top 20 medalist in the race. Seniors Daniel Huggins (20:40) and Walker Ozier (20:42) followed Henry. Senior Brandon Cowart (22:45),  sophomore Andre Dalianas (22:58), freshman Patrick Powers (24:23) and senior Marc English 25:52 also competed for Lamar. Ladies The Lady Trojans had three varsity girls competing with senior Annie Hudgins making her debut with a 30:12, followed by newcomer senior Emily Hobbs with 31:13 and senior Courtney Coates with 33:28. This is the first time the school has fielded a full girls team.
