Large C-store, fast food outlet eyeing intersection

An area developer reported last week that the suddenly-hot corridor on Veterans Parkway from Rose Avenue to College Drive may soon add a large convenience store and a fast food outlet. Zaxby’s built in the area last year and an O’Reilly’s Auto Parts store is rising on the lot adjacent to it. Additionally, Dollar Tree moved in to the abandoned Walgreen’s location at the intersection of Rose Avenue and Veterans. Developer’s views of Lamar’s demographics are improving and traffic counts on the four-lane are rising. These factors, coupled with a rapidly-improving economy, are driving the interest. The latest deal thought to be brewing is the location of a large convenience store like QuikTrip, RaceTrak or Speedway at the site of the old Williams Funeral Home along with a fast food outlet like Burger King. Burger King has been looking for a site in the area for quite some time.
