Lavada Barlow Maddox

Mrs. Lavada Barlow Maddox, age 84, passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015 at an Upson County healthcare facility. Mrs. Maddox is the daughter of the late Mr. Wright Barlow and the late Mrs. Myrtle Ethel Gardner Barlow; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Lonnie Grady Maddox; and by her brother, Mr. William Barlow. Mrs. Maddox retired as a seamstress from The William Carter Company. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church and had recently joined Bethel Baptist Church in Milner. Mrs. Maddox loved her family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilt making and crocheting. Mrs. Maddox was the matriarch of her family. Survivors include one son, Lonnie Maddox (and Becky) of Fayetteville Ga.; one daughter, Vicki Maddox Clayton (and Terry) of Live Oak Fla.; one sister, Jimmie Lee Fields of Barnesville Ga.; one brother, Tim Barlow (and Cris) of Augusta; two sisters-in-law, Betty Barlow and Cornelia Maddox; five grandchildren, Dedra Davis, Dawn Davis, Daniel (and Nikki) Clayton, Matt Maddox and Erin Maddox; two great-grandchildren, Dane Stratton and Drew Maddox; and two dear friends, Jean McBroom and Kackie Faulkner. Funeral services for Mrs. Lavada Barlow Maddox will be held Monday, Jan. 5, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Swayne Poole officiating. Interment will follow in Lamar Memory Gardens. The family received friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The family has requested that any memorial donations be made to The American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, Va., 22311,, or to the favorite charity of the donor.
