Gov. Brian Kemp’s order shutting down all Georgia public schools last week was not unexpected but it was a big blow to the seniors of the Class of 2020. Those seniors reveled in opening up the new high school campus last August and now have seen multiple events – sports, prom, the JROTC military ball and formal May graduation – canceled due to events beyond their control. But graduation will be salvaged somehow.’We will have a graduation ceremony. When, where and in what format will be the questions. We could have an event in August or we could have a virtual event. It is possible we will use our video broadcasting studio to do something memorable. We will honor our seniors,’ superintendent Jute Wilson reported. The school system released a video outlining issues and plans for the rest of the year Friday. It is available for viewing at barnesville.com.
