LC ladies struggling; Trojans on mini win streak

The basketball squads at LCHS took divergent paths as the new year dawned and the season heated up in earnest. The Lady Trojans are now 2-10. On Jan. 3, they fell just short against Howard 35-33. Raven Sullivan led the Lady Trojans with 15 points and six steals. Last week they lost 57-31 at Putnam Co. and 57-43 at Bleckley Co. The Trojans, however, have heated up somewhat as region play has gotten underway. LC is now 4-7 on the season after having won three games in a row. On Jan. 3, Prelvis Paster’s Trojans squeaked by Howard 65-62. Last week, the Trojans went to Putnam and knocked out a 57-46 win. Obtavious Hampton poured in 24 points for the Trojans while adding five rebounds and three assists. Shon Taylor added 17 points, three assists, two rebounds and one steal. Other scorers for LC were Quin Alford (7), Trey Lumpkin (4) and Styler Partain (4). LC closed out the week at Bleckley County and came away with a 49-39 win. Alford had 13 points to led the Trojans while Hampton added 12. Taylor and Lumpkin added eight points apiece. This week the LC teams play at Macon County Tuesday. They host Crawford County Friday with Mary Persons coming in Saturday night.
