LC soccer goes undefeated for week

The LC soccer program went undefeated last week, going 9-0-3 at the varsity, junior varsity and middle school levels. The varsity teams hosted Peach County Tuesday. The girls won 2-0 behind goals from Kaylah Grammer and Mackenzie Sherritt. The boys battled the visitors to a 0-0 tie. On Friday, LC hosted region opponent Callaway on a cold, windy night. The girls rolled to a 5-0 win behind scores from Madisyn Scandrett, Tamya Blasingame, Vanessia Byrd, Alaina Cato and Mackenzie Sherritt. Grammer, Erin Little and Porter Sherritt each had assists. The boys topped Callaway 3-0. Jackson Callaway had eight saves in the net for LC. The Trojans got single goals from Chip Crawford, Josh Moore and Daniel Lambert and assists from Daniel Navarro and Justin Brannan. Junior Varsity: The JV girls topped Jackson 4-0. Grammer had two goals while Iniyah Walker and Destiny Carter had one each. LC tied Bleckley County on the road 3-3. Mackenzie Sherritt had two goals while Porter Sherritt had one. The JV boys beat Jackson 4-0 as Mason Bushby got the hat trick with three goals. Josh Moore also scored for LC. The Trojans beat Bleckley County 3-0 behind single goals from Bushby, Justin Brannan and Daniel Navarro. LCMS: The LCMS soccer teams went 3-0-1 in four matches played last week. On Monday, they went to Gray to face Jones County and played on a sloppy field in the cold and pouring rain. The Trojans got a 2-0 win behind single goals from Joe Davis and Axel Garcia. Joe Davis and Daylin Cauthen had assists for the locals. The Lady Trojans rolled to a 9-0 victory behind two goals each from Armani Flewellen, Samiya Smith and Maci-Lauren Lanier. Emily McEvers, Makaiya Howard and Giada Ritch had one goal each. Cara Bishop and Ava Bushby added assists while Aniyah Barron had one save for LCMS. On Wednesday, Monroe County’s Bulldogs came to town and the combatants turned in two sharply-contested matches. The Trojans battled to a 1-1 tie. Caleb Miller got the only goal for the locals off an assist by Graham Adamson. The Lady Trojans got a single goal from McEvers and the tough Lady Trojan back line provided the shutout. Barron shook off an injury and had four saves in the net for LCMS.
