By Walter Geiger The LC Trojans and Lady Trojans begin play in the GHSA Class AA state soccer tournament this week, hosting matches at Trojan Field. UPDATE: The girls play at 6 p.m. Thursday. The boys play at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The Lady Trojans (14-4, 8-0), who won the Region 4AA title and are ranked #9 in the eurosports. com Class AA poll, are a #1 seed and host Dublin (8-10, 4-6) in a first round match Thursday at Trojan Field at 6 p.m. Coach Wayne Calvert’s LC squad routed the Lady Irish 10-0 in a match played here March 24. Should they advance, the LC ladies will play the Lovett – Chattahoochee County winner May 5. LC also holds home pitch advantage for that match. Lovett is 9-7 overall and 5-3 in region competition. CC is 7-7, 2-4. The Trojans (7-9, 3-3), coached by James Horne, finished second in region competition. They will welcome Jefferson County (5-5-2, 4-3-1) to Trojan Field Friday. The match begins at 5:30 p.m. A win would propel them into a second round matchup with Greater Atlanta Christian (14-2-2, 8-0) May 6 in Atlanta should GAC get by a weak Manchester squad as expected Friday night.
