LC triplets getting noticed in Tech drills

Known as the Lamar County triplets or LC3, former Trojan standouts Lance and Lawrence Austin and Quay Searcy are turning heads in preseason camp at Georgia Tech. The Austin twins and Searcy all signed with the Jackets in February and seem likely to see the field as freshmen. In camp coverage by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, all three were mentioned as making moves up the depth chart which has been hit by defections, dismissals and suspensions. Searcy is already in the top six at wide receiver and moving up. One player ahead of him, Darren Waller, is suspended for the first two games. Tech safety Jamal Golden took notice of Searcy early in 7 on 7 drills. ‘Speed, ball skills, ball judgement. He’s got it. Good route runner, too,’ Golden said. Golden also praised the Austin twins and has them high on his list of true freshmen who might play. ‘They come out, they listen, they learn, they play fast and they pick up on things really well. They’re showing some really good potential,’ the veteran of Tech’s defensive backfield said. The Jackets open the season Aug. 30 when they host Wofford.
