LCCHS soccer teams post wins

By Ken K. Green The high school team got off to a great start in Region 4-AA soccer play, winning a pair of matches over Putnam County here Friday night. The Lady Trojans shut out the two-time defending region champion and ninth ranked Lady War Eagles and the Trojans completed the sweep with a 5-2 victory over the Putnam boys. Katie Jo Daniel gave the Lamar girls a 1-0 lead midway through the first half. The Lady Trojans used a stifling defensive effort including stellar net minding from Alexis Bedgood to hold Putnam at bay. Daniel added a pair of second half scores for a three goal hat trick to give the Lady Trojans the win. In the boys game, Antonio Williams scored the first goal before the half to put Lamar up 1-0. In the second half Tyler Scandrett, Dylan Johnson, Walter Navarro and Cullen Bennett all scored while the Trojans gave up to late goals. The Trojans had 22 shots on goal and Cody Allen had an assist. Cullen Bennett had six saves as goalie and CJ Basso had two. Lamar will host Bleckley County for more 4-AA soccer action beginning with the girls match at 5:30 p.m. today at Trojan Field.
