LCMS Lady Trojans in division title game today

By Walter Geiger Katelyn Ziehme threw a no-hitter Thursday as the LCMS Lady Trojans ran their record to a perfect 14-0 with a 8-0 win over Clifton Ridge in the division semifinal at Aldora Field. Lamar will play Gray Station (15-3) in the division title game today at 5 p.m. here. Ziehme had three strikeouts and walked two. Ryla Traylor gave LCMS a one-run lead in the bottom of the first with an inside the park home run. The Lady Trojans exploded for six runs in the bottom of the second. Traylor had a threerun triple. Ziehme then helped her own cause with an RBI double. Kelyse Harris followed that with another RBI double as the Lady Trojans took command. Traylor finished with two hits and three RBIs. Harris had two hits and an RBI. Ziehme had one hit and one RBI. Lamar moved to the semifinal round with a 16-1 rout of Manchester at Aldora Field last Tuesday. The visitors bowed out after just three innings. Ziehme was again on the mound. She struck out five and allowed only two hits. She also picked up three hits at the plate, driving in three runs. Harris had two hits, including an inside the park home run, and drove in three runs. Carissa Thompson had two RBIs while Traylor added one hit. LCMS had 10 hits in the game and took advantage of three Manchester errors. The locals have defeated Gray Station twice this season. They did the same thing last year only to have Gray Station come back and win the title game.
