LCMS softball team off to a hot start

The LCMS Lady Trojans are 4-0 after winning a high-caliber tournament at Jones County then notching a win over powerhouse Clifton Ridge. The locals won four straight Aug. 22 to take the tournament title. In game one, LCMS topped Mount de Sales 8-2. Cayla Bishop and Brinkley Yevak worked the mound, giving up only three hits. Tionna Thomas had two hits to pace LCMS. Kaitlin Cherry had a hit and drove in a run. Yevak and Ryla Traylor also had RBIs for the locals. In game two, LCMS stopped ACE Academy 14-0 in four innings. Yevak went the distance on the mound and allowed no hits. Kelyse Harris had three hits to pace LCMS while Kaylee Horne drove in three runs. Taylor Turner had two hits and two RBIs while Yevak added two hits. In game three, LCMS spanked Clifton Ridge 10-0 in four innings. Bishop went the distance for Lamar, striking out nine and allowing only one hit. She added three hits, including a grand slam, and drove in five runs to provide much of her own run support. Traylor had two hits and drove in two runs while Harris had a hit and one RBI. In the title game, Lamar edged Tattnall 5-4. Bishop and Yevak again spit the mound duties for LCMS, giving up just six hits. Bishop added two hits and drove in two runs. Yevak also had two hits while Turner drove in a run. On Aug. 27, LCMS hosted Clifton Ridge and recorded an 8-0 win at Aldora Field. Yevak got another no-hitter for the locals as she went the full five innings, recording nine strikeouts. She added two hits and three RBIs at the plate. Bishop had two hits and drove in two runs while Traylor added two hits.
