Letetia May Mercier (Tish), age 77, of Englewood, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at a Sarasota, Florida hospital.
Tish was born in Atlanta, Georgia on July 4, 1945, to William Pierce May and Lorene Drennan May. When the family moved to Barnesville, Georgia at the end of 1960, she attended Gordon Military College and graduated in the high school class of ’63 and the college class of ’65.
After moving to Florida, Tish graduated from the University of South Florida and became a Certified Public Accountant. Letetia remained a practicing CPA in her firm, Mercier CPA Associates, PA, until shortly before her death. She spent much of her life giving back to the Englewood community through her CPA firm and her involvement with the Community Foundation of Sarasota, Englewood Chamber of Commerce, and numerous non-profit and economic development organizations.
Tish’s legacy will be carried on by her children Julia Mercier, Chip (Stephanie) Mercier, Anna Mercier (Craig) Taylor; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Deborah May (Sonny) Johnston; and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held on December 3, 2022 at the Englewood United Methodist Church. The following week, a graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery in Barnesville. Friends and family are welcome to attend and share memories of her life.
