Lamar code enforcement officer Wimpy Vaughn told The Herald Gazette last week that cleanup at the Lighthouse is ongoing, with efforts to salvage as much metal as possible. He said Stephen Brehaut, co-owner of the restaurant with his aunt Sherry Wise, has hired a work crew to finish the demolition and cleanup. The 30-year-old restaurant burned in August 2012. Brehaut pleaded guilty of arson and was sentenced to probation and restitution. Several months ago, the county issued an order for mandatory cleanup of nuisance property.
