Lillian Abbott Hurt

Mrs. Lillian Abbott Hurt, age 81, of Hampton passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Hurt was born in Barnesville to the late Mr. Andrew Jackson Abbott and to the late Mrs. Mittie Barksdale Abbott. Over the years Mrs. Hurt made her home in Barnesville, Atlanta, Griffin and Hampton. She was a homemaker and a member of the Second Baptist Church of Griffin. Mrs. Hurt graduated from Gordon Military High School and also attended Gordon Military College. Later in life she loved raising dogs. Survivors include her husband, Mr. James ‘Jimmy’ Terry Hurt of Hampton; a son, Mr. Kenneth S. Hurt of Atlanta; a daughter, Mrs. Susan Hurt King (and Tim) of Collierville, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Mia King of Collierville, Tenn.; nieces and nephews, Frank Abbott, Danny Abbott, Jimmy Abbott, Bobby Abbott, Billy Abbott, Barbara Owen, Phyllis Mouldin, Tim Mitchell, Cathy Tedder and Chuck Abbott. A graveside service for Mrs. Lillian Abbott Hurt will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2013 in Lamar Memory Gardens with Frank Abbott officiating. The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 12 noon until 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Monroe County Animal Shelter in Forsyth, Ga.
