A lineman who was electrocuted Wednesday afternoon while working on power lines near the Liberty Hill Community House at the intersection of Hwy. 36 East and Morgan Dairy Road has died. ********************NOTICE:This story and photo(s) are under copyright. They may not be republished or disseminated in any form or format – including social media – without explicit permission.*********************The 911 call went out a 4:35 p.m. Coworkers, passersby and then first responders performed CPR on the victim after his bucket was lowered. He was loaded into an ambulance and taken to Spalding Regional Medical Center in grave condition.The victim worked for Mastec, a contractor doing work for Southern Rivers Energy. Mastec is based in Florida. It appeared the crews were changing out transformers. Sheriff Brad White said a coworker told responders the victim “made contact” with a live power line.Multiple SRE personnel quickly arrived on the scene, including CEO Michael McMillan.UPDATE: Coroner Jim Smith confirmed the lineman has died. He identified the man as Zachary Dean Cosby, 27, of Phenix City, Alabama. The victim’s family has been notified and are on the way.More to follow…
