Four people were shot at a graduation party at a home on Levi Barnes Road in Butts County Friday night. One, a 16-year-old Griffin High football player, was killed. One victim is an LCHS senior. Butts County sheriff Gary Long identified the dead teen as Cederrius Hastings. He died after transport to Atlanta Medical Center. Three others were wounded and are in stable condition including one female who was to graduate from Lamar County High School next Saturday. She has been tentatively identified as Kodaidra Hamm who reportedly will recover but is in extensive pain. Sources indicate the graduation party was hosted by a teen who just moved to Butts County from Griffin. Most of those in attendance at the party were from Griffin. Gunfire erupted after an alercation between those at the party and others in a vehicle. There are reports that the incident was gang related. Sheriff Long reported multiple rumors about retribution at Saturday night’s Jackson High graduation which was postponed Friday due to weather. ”There have been no verifiable threats made against the graduation ceremony, however we are taking all precautions to ensure the safety of everyone in attendance,” the sheriff said. Those with information on the shooting are encouraged to call the BCSO at 770.775.8216.
