Local C stores raided for gambling; arrestees identified

Six local convenience stores were raided and shut down temporarily as part of a raid by authorities tied to illegal gambling here Thursday. UPDATE: Sheriff Brad White has identified two of those arrested. The stores, according to sheriff Brad White, were Benny’s, C&B, Hot Shot, Red Apple, Reliable Mart and Sammie’s. Sheriff White reported individuals at the stores were paying off winnings from poker machines in cash which is against Georgia law. Multiple agencies were involved including GBI, BPD, LCSO, Department of Corrections and Georgia Lottery enforcement personnel. Multiple charges are forthcoming. UPDATE: Sheriff Brad White said two arrests had been made as of 11 a.m. Friday. More arrests may be forthcoming. Those arrested were: Sorel Ramzan Batliwala, 33, commercial gambling. Naimesh Kantilal Patel, 35, commercial gambling.
