Local man charged with murder

A Lamar County man is in the Henry County jail charged in connection with the brutal shooting death of his girlfriend July 4 at Skyland Mobile Home Park in Locust Grove. Raphael Khalil Kelly, 21, is charged with murder and aggravated assault after allegedly shooting his girlfriend, Laci Moss to death in front of her mother and other family members at a holiday gathering. Moss, 21, was shot multiple times. Officers at the scene described the shooting scene as ‘brutal’. Kelley had been on the run for nearly two weeks before turning himself in to Henry County authorities late last week. He was arrested here on July 1, 2019 for obstruction of an officer. At that time, he resided at Fuller’s Trailer Park. ’Deputies went and looked for Kelley after the lookout was issued by Locust Grove. We talked to him on the phone and he said he was going to turn himself in,’ sheriff Brad White said Monday. Moss was also a former resident of Lamar County. No obituary information on her was available at press time Monday. A fund has been established to help her family with funeral expenses at gofundme.com
